The all-new Jazz Sport is here to shake things up, with styling and performance that’s both athletic and edgy. Its improved performance is courtesy of an all-new 1.5L iVTEC DOHC 16V Direct Injection engine which pushes out 97kw and 155 Nm/4600 rpm. Incorporating Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology it also boasts reduced fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. As the new top-of-the-range model for the Jazz, it’s packed with features that are sure to spark envy wherever you go.
Comes with a 4 Year/60 000km Service Plan
The exterior styling of the Jazz Sport has taken inspiration from the Type R and exudes sportiness from every angle. It has an aggressive, sporty look that incorporates aero form features at the front, sides and rear. Also at the rear, is a bold spoiler with a three-stroke diffuser, highlighted by a red upper trim line, all of which portrays an attitude of “Let’s go!”
The Jazz’s streamlined profile is a showcase in aerodynamic efficiency. It’s a car with the best of both worlds – a compact exterior design coupled with an expansive interior. The front view is dominated by a prominent grille configuration, flanked by slim, tapered headlights. The smooth, sloping roofline adds further credence to its wind-cheating aerodynamics. Sculpted flanks and chiselled character lines emphasise its sporty hatchback character.
The all-new 16-inch alloy wheels come in an eye-catching gloss black finish with 185/55R16 tyres.
Lighting the way are LED headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and halogen fog lights. All of which improve visibility of the car and road no matter what the time of day, along with enhancing the Jazz Sport’s edgy look.
As with all variants in the Jazz line-up, the overall interior space benefits from a compact engine bay, efficient rear suspension layout and rear wheel arch design providing generous leg room and cargo capacity when the magic seats are deployed. The volume capacity with the rear seats in upright position is a generous 359 litres and 889 litres with the seats down.
This innovative seat mechanism can be configured in a number of ways using easy-to-use levers, to accommodate a variety of tall and long objects. The rear seatback is split 60:40 to offer both seating and extended cargo space. With the rear seats folded flat, the maximum amount of space is available thanks to the flat floor and vertical sides. In Tall Mode, upright objects can be accommodated with a floor-to-roof space of more than 1,2 metres, including two mountain bikes with their front wheels removed.
Access to your entertainment and communication is made easy by way of a 7” touch screen and multi-function steering wheel. The system incorporates a Bluetooth® phone system, HDMI and iPod/USB connections and 6 speakers. The screen is also linked to a rear-view camera that makes parking a pleasure. Added convenience can also be found with front and back electric windows, automatic air-conditioning, telescopic/tilt adjustable steering wheel and fully electrically adjustable side mirrors, which retract after parking.
As with the exterior, the interior treatment again takes its cues from the heritage of the Type R. A racing red theme is found throughout with red stitching on the seats, armrests and leather-trimmed steering wheel. If that isn’t enough to make you feel connected to your racy side, the Jazz Sport also comes standard with alloy sport pedals.
The Jazz Sport is available with a revised Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system that delivers enhanced and refined acceleration. The system automatically gauges the most efficient power range to improve fuel economy and makes for a smoother ride. You can also manually control gears using Step Shift mode and the gearshift paddles on either side of the steering wheel.
The ultimate in convenience is being able to enter and exit your Jazz Sport without ever touching the key. The Smart Entry and Push Button Start system also makes starting and stopping the engine almost effortless.
A next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure features our highest-grade steel yet. This exclusive Honda body design utilises a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This helps reduce the force transferred to the cabin and more evenly disperses the forces transferred to other vehicles involved.
Passive safety features include dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). These inflate at different rates depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and other factors, supplementing the seatbelts to reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in a collision. The side curtain airbag helps provide protection for front and outboard rear occupants in the event of a side impact.
Standard across the entire range are three-point inertia reel seatbelts with height-adjustable anchor points and child seat anchors in the rear.
With the increased power of the Jazz Sport, the rear brakes have been upgraded from drum brakes to disc brakes. Along with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA), this gives you more stopping power to help keep you in control during an emergency situation. The hazard lights are also activated in an emergency braking situation thanks to Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) technology.
Vehicle Stability Assistance (VSA) is another active safety feature on all new Jazz derivatives. It operates in conjunction with the Honda’s throttle control and ABS to optimise traction and control during acceleration, braking and cornering. Using data from wheel rotation, vehicle speed, steering input, lateral acceleration and yaw rate, it applies braking force independently to one or more wheels and modulates acceleration to help retain control of the car under extreme manoeuvres.
When it comes to keeping your car secure and giving peace of mind, the Jazz doesn’t disappoint. Standard security features include alarm/immobiliser, remote central locking and auto door lock with selective unlocking.
Another handy safety feature is the inclusion of Hill Start Assist (HSA), which gives you more control when setting off from an incline.
